In June we had the official start-up event for YWP Sweden. About 40 attendees joined us for an introduction to IWA, our Governing Member IWA Sweden and of course the Swedish YWP Chapter and our goals and plans. We had the privilege to listen to the invited speakers Anna Norström, Gustaf Olsson, Linda Åmand and Josefin Barup who talked about their impressive careers and (different levels of) involvement in IWA.
We learned about how getting involved in an international network of likeminded professionals can challenge you and give you lifelong friendships; how the IWA specialist groups work to bring value to its members; how mentoring the next generation of YWPs keeps you young; how you should never stop being curious and learn; how you as a YWP can get involved in IWA to get inspired, learn and contribute; and how the single person in the room with a deviating opinion can be the one who is right. The most important message to us YWPs: make sure that you continue to work with things you enjoy and that are fun!
We could not have asked for a better start of our Country Chapter than the fun and inspiring event we had. We look forward to what the future brings!
